Conrow-Hunt Family Correspondence, 1786-1886.

Contains three letters, 1786-1787, with later manuscript copies, to Quaker minister and diarist, John Hunt, from Darling Conrow. John Hunt added a biographical note concerning Conrow to the final letter. Also contains a letter, 1886, concerning Hunt genealogy.

John Hunt was born in 1740, the son of Robert and Abigail (Wood) Hunt of New Jersey. His father was a first cousin to the John Woolman (1720-1772). In 1763, John Hunt married Esther Warrington in the Chester meeting house, under the supervision of Evesham Monthly Meeting. He was a Quaker minister for more than 50 years and died in 1824. His memorial, published in 1841, highlighted his public testimony concerning pride and superfluity, and stated that he was particularly concerned with temperance...

Conrow, Darling, 1783-1845

Darling Conrow was a Quaker associated with Burlington County, New Jersey and Chester Monthly Meeting. He was married first to Elizabeth Brown with whom he had 9 children, Sarah, Matthew, Susannah, Phebe, Esther, Lydia, Darling, Elizabeth, and Thornton. He later married Esther Hunt in 1805. He was disowned by Byberry Monthly Meeting in 1813. He died on the 3rd day of the 2nd month, 1845....
